3D Director
Establish positions, camera and composition in a 3D scene, then use screenshots or motion previs as shot references. 3D Director is enabled by default in CoolShowAI; no application is required.
Open the tool
After script and storyboard analysis, enter 3D Director from the shot you want to design. The shot prompt is available inside the tool so that spatial planning can follow the story.
Interface areas
| Area | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Top bar | Ratio, screenshots, recording and material list |
| Elements panel | Scene, character, camera and prop objects |
| 3D workspace | Place, move, rotate and scale objects |
| Quick tools | Object tools, add characters/cameras/props, panorama, undo and redo |
| Camera preview | Check the final camera's view |
| Properties | Edit position, angles and other object parameters |
| Timeline | Keyframes, action timing and previs playback |
1. Set the scene
Choose a 3D scene in Elements, adjust XYZ scale and rotation, and establish its orientation. Configure background color or a panorama as needed. Fix entrances, furniture and walkable space before blocking; avoid changing the scale arbitrarily later.
2. Place characters
Add the required characters and set XYZ positions, facing directions and distances. Check eyelines, collisions and whether interacting characters occupy a coherent space.
3. Set the director camera
Select the director camera and adjust position, height, angle and distance. Choose framing and check that foreground objects do not obscure faces or push subjects outside the image.
Use the camera preview to judge final framing. The central workspace is an editing view; moving it does not necessarily change the output camera.
4. Export a still reference
Capture a useful camera view, inspect it in the material list and return it as a shot reference. State that it defines blocking, composition and depth; character and scene assets define identities and final style.
AI-assisted setup
AI generation can propose positions, cameras and animation from the shot prompt. Inspect relationships, character mapping, collisions and framing, then refine the proposal before using it as a final reference.
For movement, continue to Animation and previs references.
Navigate the view and switch panels
Use the view navigator's X / Y / Z axes to inspect the scene from standard directions, or reset the view. These controls help inspect space; the Director camera and its preview still determine the output.
Switch between scene editing and animation panels as needed. Set object properties for a static composition, then use the timeline for motion. Confirm captures and recordings in the material list, and add and mention them in the shot. Merely previewing a scene does not write its constraints into the video prompt.
