Extend a video

Video extension develops the action before or after an existing segment. Use Seedance 2.5 and start from a clearly defined visual state.

Steps

1. In the shot editor's @ selection, choose Video extension (视频续写) and select a clip. Canvas video nodes also provide access.
2. Confirm whether to extend before or after the source using the available interface options.
3. Edit the continuation area of the preset prompt.
4. State which identities, clothes, locations, props, audio and camera directions must remain consistent.
5. Choose an available duration and generate.
6. Watch across the join to check speed, positions and sound continuity.

Example continuation

Continue from the final state: the character remains on the left of the counter,
holding the envelope in her right hand.
She looks toward the door, pauses for one second, then walks toward it.
Keep the original camera height and lens; follow slowly without adding a cut.
Preserve clothing, lighting and the envelope, with footsteps and clothing sounds.
Do not repeat completed dialogue or add subtitles.

Inspect the join

• Does the new action start naturally from the existing state rather than replaying it?
• Do position, facing direction, props or light sources change unexpectedly?
• Does the camera abruptly zoom, cut or change speed?
• Is dialogue repeated or ambience interrupted?

When the story needs a new space, time jump or deliberate cut, a separate shot is often easier to control. Extension supports continuous action; it does not replace episode editing.
